Dr. Dongsu Kim, president of St Paul Academy of Theology, published a book on the perseverance of the saints
At the end of May, Dr. Dongsu Kim, president of St Paul Academy of Theology, published a book on the perseverance and apostasy of the saints. The title of the book is “Perseverance and Apostasy in the New Testament: Unpacking the Dynamic of God’s Sovereignty and Human Responsibility.”
Dr. Dongsu Kim explained the contents of the book and said, “Critics have been denying the perseverance of the saints. And they have denied the unity, inspiration, and inerrancy of the New Testament by arguing that the authors of the New Testament offer different teachings on perseverance and apostasy….but, as a result of interpreting the representative passages of the New Testament on perseverance of the saints, we find that unity exists in the teachings on perseverance and apostasy in the New Testament.”
Dr. Storm, who served as president of the Evangelical Theological Society, comments, “This is a useful and insightful book with a thorough analysis of the controversy that will remain in the church until Christ comes.” And Dr. Lillback, president of Westminster Theological Seminary states, “It is a multiple weapon for understanding the Bible and theology.” Dr. Chung, professor of Denver Seminary also writes, “The Reformed doctrine of the perseverance of the saints has been greatly challenged in recent years and has been seriously distorted….but, through a profound, detailed and careful exposition of the New Testament text, this book brilliantly presents a powerful and persuasive example of God’s gracious and faithful preservation of true believers in Christ. It is a masterpiece and a must read for anyone interested in the biblical teachings of perseverance and apostasy.”
Dr. Dongsu Kim holds an M.Div. and Ph.D. in Biblical Interpretation at Westminster Theological Seminary. After receiving his degree, he served as a professor at Nayak College for 20 years. He founded St Paul Academy of Theology in New Jersey in 2014, and currently serves as its president and teaches as an adjunct professor at Pillar College, Denver Seminary, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and Bethel Theological Seminary.
